How to upload your 3D model for production at Spentys

This article explains how to go from a finished design in the Forma desktop app to a confirmed production order with Spentys.

Once you’ve created your device in the Forma desktop app using AutoForma, the next step is to get it into production. Since there’s no direct link between the desktop app and the Spentys web platform, all orders are submitted through the Spentys order form on our online platform. This article explains how to go from a finished design in the Forma desktop app to a confirmed production order with Spentys.

Starting a new order

Begin by logging into the Spentys web platform and clicking "Create a new order". This will open the order form, where you’ll provide the necessary details for production.

1. Product selection

The first step is to choose the product you want to order. The order form supports both upper extremity and lower extremity devices.

  • For upper extremity products, you can either:

    • Upload your own finished designs made in FreeForma or AutoForma

    • Or send your raw or corrected scans to the Spentys design team, who will complete the modelling before production

  • For lower extremity products, you can upload the correct scan or mold, and the Spentys design team will take care of the modelling

2. Patient information

Next, provide general patient information. This information will be visible in the order details, helping you identify the order later.

For lower extremity orders, the patient information section is more detailed, as these details are essential for designing a device with the correct thickness and structural adaptations. The Spentys design team will use the clinical profile and activity level to tailor the orthosis to the patient’s needs.

3. Uploading the scan

In the scan section, you can upload either the raw (uncorrected) scan or the cleaned-up/corrected scan. Be sure to indicate:

  • The side of the scanned limb (left or right)

  • The units used in your scan (e.g., millimeters)

You can also add photos to provide extra visual references for the design team — for example, to highlight anatomical landmarks or specific requirements.

4. Model

Here, you’ll decide whether you’re submitting your own design or having Spentys create one for you.

  • If you already have a complete design file, simply upload it

  • If you want Spentys to design the device, provide all necessary specifications directly in the form

For upper extremity devices, you’ll choose the closing systems, the offset and alveoli size.

For lower extremity devices, you can either go with a standard design or customize your own.Schermafbeelding 2025-08-05 121316

5. Printing options

In this step, you’ll choose where the device will be produced. After selecting the printing location and technology, you’ll be able to pick the material. The options here will depend on the chosen device type and production method.Schermafbeelding 2025-08-05 133007

6. Shipping and submission

Finally, enter your shipping address and invoicing address. Once all sections are complete, submit the form to the Spentys web platform. Our team will then process the order and start production.

Summary

Using the order form ensures that all the required information is available to our production and design teams, whether you’re submitting your own finished model or relying on Spentys to complete the design. This workflow keeps your process organized, ensures clarity for everyone involved, and speeds up the path from digital file to finished orthosis.
